100% Birch Shell Construction

Six-ply 100% birch shells form the foundation of the SBP2F5, yielding the short decay, quick attack, and tight sonic separation that have made birch the material of choice for professional drum kits. Yamaha has used birch as the core shell material in its professional lineup since the Stage Custom's introduction in 1995.

Matte Surf Green Finish

The Matte Surf Green coating is applied by hand using the same lacquering process found on high-end drum kits. The matte texture gives the finish a contemporary, understated look while natural wood grain variation beneath adds subtle visual depth to each shell.

Y.E.S.S. Tom Mounting

Yamaha's Enhanced Sustain System connects tom hardware at the nodal point of the shell — the position at which vibration is least affected by external contact. Minimum hardware-to-shell contact and nylon bushing rod clamps together allow each tom to resonate naturally and sustain freely.

Absolute Lugs

Each shell is fitted with Absolute Lugs containing an internal hold plate that locks the tension bolt in position, preventing tuning drift during performance and ensuring the kit stays in pitch throughout a set.

Ball Mount and Clamp

The original Yamaha ball mount and clamp provides non-slip tom positioning at any angle, secured by a titanium ergonomic wing bolt in a chromed housing. The design also allows bottom head tuning by rotating the drum while mounted, without disturbing the mount setting.

Hardware Details

Die-cast claw hooks equipped with rubber insertion plates reduce noise transmitted through the bass drum hoops. Bass drum legs with integral stoppers simplify placement and keep the kick drum firmly in position during play.
