Roland JUPITER-08 Syntetizátor

Roland JUPITER-08 — Legendary Polyphonic Synthesizer in a Compact Module

The Roland JUPITER-08 brings the sound and hands-on control of the original JUPITER-8 into a module no bigger than a book. Backed by Roland's latest sound technologies, this unit recreates the character of one of the most iconic analog polyphonic synthesizers ever made while adding modern conveniences like USB audio interfacing and battery operation. The JUPITER-08 is the right choice for producers and sound designers who want the unmistakable JUPITER voicing without the size, weight, or price of a vintage instrument.

What Makes the JUPITER-08 Unique

The JUPITER-08 refines voice allocation and pitch behavior for a rich, animated sound with genuine vintage-inspired character. Dedicated sliders, knobs, and switches for the LFO, VCO modulator, both VCOs, HPF, VCF, VCA, and envelopes preserve the hands-on programming feel of the 1981 hardware. Dual and Split modes layer or divide two sounds across the keyboard, and polyphony can be expanded to 32 voices for modern playing needs.

Keyboard and Playing Experience

The playing surface matters as much as the sound engine, and the JUPITER-08 ships with the K-25m keyboard dock for a self-contained performance rig. The compact Boutique footprint makes it equally at home on a studio desk or in a backpack, and the optional DK-01 Boutique Dock is available for desktop use.

• Keys: 25 velocity-sensitive keys via the K-25m keyboard unit — enough range for two-handed playing and chord work
• Keyboard Type: Velocity sensitive — dynamics shape the amplitude and tonal weight of each note
• Aftertouch: No — the Hold function sustains notes and chords during performance

Sound Engine and Voice Architecture

The voice architecture defines the character of any polyphonic synthesizer, and the JUPITER-08 stays faithful to the dual-oscillator design that gave the original its rich, layered tone. Each voice combines two VCOs with cross modulation and sync, a source mixer, a high-pass filter, a resonant VCF with switchable slope, and a VCA.

• Polyphony: 32 voices — enough headroom for dense pads, layered splits, and unison stacks
• Oscillators: 2 per voice — dual VCOs with cross-modulation, sync, and detune for thick, animated tones
• Envelope: ADSR — selectable envelopes with key follow and polarity control shape filter and amplitude contours

Modulation, Sequencing, and Connectivity

Modulation and sequencing turn a static patch into a performance instrument, and the JUPITER-08 includes the tools needed for evolving, motion-rich sounds. The built-in step sequencer captures ideas without needing a DAW, while the USB port doubles as a high-quality audio interface for direct recording. Battery power and a built-in speaker mean the module can be played anywhere inspiration strikes.

• LFO: Yes — dedicated low-frequency oscillator with adjustable rate and delay time for vibrato, tremolo, and filter sweeps
• Sequencer: 64 steps — onboard pattern sequencer for capturing riffs and melodic ideas without external gear
• Effects: 17 MFX types plus delay and reverb — including the classic Roland stereo chorus and a shimmer reverb mode

Who the JUPITER-08 Is For

The Roland JUPITER-08 is the right choice for electronic music producers, synth enthusiasts, and studio engineers who need the JUPITER-8 sound in a portable, modern format. It suits players building a hardware rig around the Roland Boutique ecosystem, with the K-25m keyboard dock included in the box. Live performers benefit from battery operation and the built-in mini-speaker, while bedroom producers appreciate the direct USB audio interface for capturing ideas straight into a DAW.

The Roland JUPITER-8 Legacy

The original Roland JUPITER-8, released in 1981, became one of the defining polyphonic synthesizers of the 1980s and remains a sought-after instrument decades later. The JUPITER-08 celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original as part of the Roland Boutique series. By shrinking the front panel, adding USB-C and battery power, and expanding polyphony to 32 voices, Roland has made the JUPITER voicing accessible to a new generation of players.
