Takamine GN93CE-NAT — NEX-Style Acoustic-Electric with Walnut and Quilt Maple

Built around Takamine's signature NEX body, this model pairs a solid spruce top with a three-piece black walnut and quilt maple back for a clear, articulate voice. A slim mahogany neck and bound laurel fingerboard keep every position easy to reach, while the TK-40D preamp makes the instrument stage-ready. GN93CE-NAT suits players who want one guitar for songwriting, recording, and live performance.

Three-Piece Quilt Maple Back and TK-40D Electronics

What separates this instrument from other NEX-style acoustics is the three-piece back, where quilt maple sits between black walnut panels for layered visual and tonal character. The TK-40D preamp adds a notch filter and EQ bypass switch alongside the standard three-band EQ, giving players more feedback control. Gold die-cast tuners and maple binding complete the upscale presentation.

Body Construction and Tonewood Selection

The NEX body delivers a silky tonal balance that supports vocals without overpowering them. Scalloped X-bracing under the solid spruce top increases resonance and projection.

• The NEX body with Venetian cutaway is a scaled-down jumbo design providing easy upper-fret access.
• Top: Solid spruce — bright, dynamic response that opens up over time
• Back & Sides: Three-piece black walnut with quilt maple center, black walnut sides — layered stiffness for clean note separation

Neck Profile and Fingerboard Feel

A slim mahogany neck profile reduces hand fatigue during long sessions. The 12-inch radius suits both chord work and lead playing.

• Neck: Mahogany — stable, lightweight, and resonant
• Fingerboard: Bound laurel, 305 mm (12") radius — comfortable for rhythm and lead styles
• Nut Width: 42.8 mm — a comfortable fit for fingerstyle and strumming

TK-40D Preamp and Stage-Ready Performance

The TK-40D preamp is one of the company's longest-running electronics platforms, trusted for clear, full-range amplified tone. A built-in tuner and three-band EQ with gain control let players shape their sound on the fly.

• The TK-40D with built-in tuner is a highly reliable, road-tested electronics platform.
• EQ: Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Mid Contour — full tonal shaping plus feedback control
• Switches: Notch filter and EQ bypass — quick access to clean signal or feedback suppression

Ideal for Singer-Songwriters, Gigging Guitarists, and Intermediate Players

This model is the right choice for singer-songwriters and acoustic performers who need a guitar that sounds balanced both unplugged and through a PA system. Sitting comfortably for long sets, the NEX body and cutaway open up access to higher frets. Intermediate players will appreciate the solid spruce top and refined electronics, while experienced players get a dependable stage guitar with quilt maple character.
