Orange AD200: Pure Tube Power for Bassists

The Orange AD200 all-valve bass head is designed for players who demand authentic tube warmth, clarity, and power in their stage rig. Handcrafted in the UK, the AD200 is widely recognized for producing commanding lows, distinctive growling mids, and smooth, musical highs. This model embodies the no-compromise philosophy of Orange, focusing on the shortest, purest signal path to let the real character of your bass shine through on any gig. With a streamlined control interface and a reputation for reliability, the AD200 has become a modern classic among serious bassists seeking legendary tone and unmatched simplicity.

What Makes the AD200 Unique

Standing out with its all-valve design and remarkably minimal signal path, the AD200 uses four KT88 or 6550 power tubes and a preamp section with ECC83/12AX7 and ECC81/12AT7 tubes. This configuration delivers a thick, dynamic response that stays articulate even at high volumes. The updated version includes a Clean switch for expanded tonal range, individual tube biasing for easier maintenance, and a redesigned output transformer for even deeper, more controlled bass response—features rarely found in this amp category.

Maximum Headroom and Simple Control

Bassists playing big venues or competing with powerful guitar rigs need clean headroom and intuitive controls. The AD200 delivers:

• Power Output: 200 W — Tube wattage offers true stage volume and effortless headroom, making it suitable for any venue.
• Four dials (Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Volume) let you shape your sound quickly, focusing your attention on performance.
• Dual inputs for active and passive basses ensure a perfect match for any instrument you use.

Legendary Tube Circuitry

Expressive, harmonically rich character comes from the all-valve architecture found in this model. The amp features:

• Power Tubes: 4x KT88/6550 — Delivers massive low-end punch and vintage response at your fingertips.
• Preamp Tubes: 2x ECC83/12AX7, 1x ECC81/12AT7 — Adds warmth, growl, and musical saturation under higher gain.
• Speaker Output Options: 1x 8 Ohm, 1x 4 Ohm, or 2x 8 Ohm cabs—versatility for any professional bass setup.

Functional Simplicity and Road-Ready Build

Every feature is selected for reliability and performance, with unnecessary extras omitted to prevent signal coloration and reduce failure points. Confirmed specs include:

• There is no effects loop—keeping the signal pure, without tone loss from added circuits.
• Headphone Output: No — Built for live performance instead of silent practice.
• Footswitch Input: No — The always-on design means your amp is ready for any gig at any time.
• MIDI Interface: No — No digital controls, preserving reliability and tone integrity.
